we really need more social media features that allow people to exist in-between the binaries of “public” and “private”
i want to be accessible and findable, but sometimes would prefer if people outside a certain sphere (or those in other spheres!) would be less likely to see what i post
feature idea: reverse mute
hide your account from showing up in peoples’ feeds programmatically based on keywords in their bios, types of accounts they follow, or lists they are in, etc
everyone is constantly saying “dating apps suck”, so the past few months i’ve taken it upon myself to see if the alternatives are better…
tonite i’m going to another speed dating event — the 1st was fun, but it didn’t seem better than using an app… figured i should at least give it 1 more shot tho
people outsourced their exploration and curation to algorithms run by megacorps for so long that they forgot they could do those things themselves
it’s hard to blame them though, as vast amounts of resources are being expended to convince them to stay inside the walled garden
the internet didn’t become boring or stale overtime… most people just got lazy and prefer to lounge apathetically on their digital couches (social media feeds) all day
surfing the web is still loads of fun if you take the time to do it
i wish there were hot are.na singles in my area
